Snickers porridge
This peanut butter and chocolate porridge might sound a little unhealthy for breakfast, but don't be fooled. Peanut butter delivers healthy fats and protein, while cocoa powder and bitter dark chocolate are two of the richest sources of polyphenols, which may help to reduce inflammation and improve cholesterol.
Ingredients

jumbo porridge oats

1/4 tsp
ground sweet cinnamon

Pinch of nutmeg

1/2 tsp
cocoa powder

1/2 tsp
vanilla bean paste

1 tsp
peanut butter flavour hot chocolate

250ml
semi-skimmed milk

TO SERVE
-
Peanut butter, to drizzle

Fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

Dark chocolate (90% cocoa), grated, plus 2 squares for garnish

Tip the porridge oats into a small saucepan with the cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa powder, vanilla bean paste, and the peanut butter flavoured hot chocolate powder. Stir well and add the milk and a pinch of salt.

Set over a low-to-medium heat and cook gently for 5-10 minutes until thick and creamy, stirring regularly to prevent the oats from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Serve with a dollop of peanut butter, fresh strawberries and a grating of dark chocolate, plus a couple of squares if desired.
